Broken Spell - Ace of Heart

The fairytale I chose was "Fitcher's Bird", which has always been one of my favorites in Grimm's Tale. If anyone is familiar with the story, you might notice that this illustration has almost absolutely nothing to do with it, but that's because I decided not to draw it literally.

But I won't waste anyone's time telling my deeper than Deep-Dish-Pizza explanation.

Oh wait, I will.

SO! The round shoji door represents an egg, which is cracked open, spilling out a dead girl who's supposed to be the yoke. The streams are for blood, and the flowers called "boke" in Japanese also reveals the victim's clumsiness or foolishness (which is also "boke" in Japanese) for getting killed in the first place.

And for anyone who knows my character Sergio (no one does), he's the killer in the story.

Originally I wanted to draw a bird motif in the girl's kimono, but since that didn't work out so well, I went ahead and slapped an origami texture with cranes in them.

I pretty much used about....10 different textures in them because I have no sense of limitation.
